Map of Argentina and Patagonia

MORE MAPS OF PATAGONIA

One of the last remaining frontiers on our planet

Patagonia is a massive geographic region encompassing the southern portions of both Argentina and Chile.  It's northern borders are formed by the Rio Colorado in Argentina and the Chilean city of Puerto Montt. From there, the impressive and diverse terrain extends south to the tip of the South American continent.

It is approximately three and a half times the size of the State of California and four times the size of the United Kingdom.

The imposing Andes mountain range runs north/south forming the backbone of the South American continent as well as the international border between Chile and Argentina.

Its diversity is as staggering as its size.

• Towering, snow-covered volcanic peaks

• Pristine forests filled with Magellanic woodpeckers, hummingbirds and Austral parakeets

• A fascinating mix of cultures and customs derived from its immigrant population

• Hundreds of crystal-clear lakes waiting to be explored

• Large populations of whales, penguins, and the awesome Andean condor

• Year-round outdoor activities from hiking and fly-fishing to rafting and skiing

• Giant ice fields including one of the few expanding glaciers on the planet

• Rich folklore from the early European settlers to the unexpected arrival of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Patagonia – It is more than just another vacation.
